Note: Holding force is measured subject to the following conditions:
 
  1. The magnet is magnetised to saturation
  2. The object to be held should be a solid piece of a FerroMagnetic material (such as a mild steel block) of sufficient thickness so that it does not attain saturation during this operation. It must not be in the form of very thin sheet or loose particles.
  3. There is close contact between the magnet poles and the surface of the object.
